Estepona has gone through a significant period of growth in recent years, thanks to mayor José María García Urbano’s fantastic series of regeneration projects. Such great investments have had a fantastic impact on the town, both in terms of its appearance and economic prospects, making the area an attractive place for residents, visitors and those looking to invest in Estepona.
Whilst the area has long been a favourite for both tourists and residents, these improvements are continually putting Estepona and the surrounding areas on the map, not only on the Costa del Sol, but in Europe too. Such status comes with great rewards for those who choose to invest early, so let’s take a closer look at why you should consider investing in Estepona this year.
The regeneration of the Paseo Marítimo, connecting the Old Town and it’s social and economic activity, to the seafront and promenade, has been one of the most popular plans brought in by the mayor. This new space has opened up the area and now allows for pedestrians to be separated from traffic, creating a calm and tranquil environment for families and individuals to enjoy the beautiful beach front. The promenade is lined with restaurants, cafes, and bars, as well as public art installations and green spaces. In addition, several new parks and gardens have been created along the seafront, offering residents and visitors a peaceful place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the area.
The controversial Mirador del Carmen project raised some eyebrows amongst residents, who believed that such a structure was not fitting of the Estepona seafront. Since its opening, the new cultural centre has been crowned a must-see attraction in the town, with the new installation bringing together a library, conservatory, auditorium, and a lookout tower to enjoy beautiful panoramic views across the city and sea.
The mayor recently announced plans to redevelop Avenida San Lorenzo and integrate it with the newly renovated Avenida de España, just off the beachfront in Estepona. This new boulevard will be similar to that of nearby San Pedro de Alcántara, creating a hub for its citizens to enjoy the outdoors in a beautiful yet safe environment. This new project also includes the creation of an underground car park, with a capacity for 300 spaces, as well as the creation of a new shopping and leisure area
